ACT I
The scene throughout is in Jane’s house in the isolated parts of upstate New York. It is a two story house in Birmingham with the nearest neighbor five miles away. All around the house are trees and off to one side is a lake. It was a great place for her and her parents to live in because they were never much city people.
The first floor consists of a living room and a kitchen. On the second floor are the bathroom and two bedrooms, one which belongs to JANE. Jane's bedroom is simple and neat with only a bed in the center.
Up L. is the bathroom with a mirror, sink and tub. Up R. is the window and next to it is the front door. In the middle of the bathroom and the window is the kitchen with a big sink. Down center is Jane's bedroom with her bed.
It is 6pm on a Friday evening and curtain opens. When the curtain rises, JANE is home alone with her bulldog BLUE. JANE is a 18 year old girl--small, fragile, and playful. Her parents had left early morning for a weekend trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a place in which JANE hates the most so she stayed behind to watch the house.
Suddenly, she feels a vibration coming under her pillow. Oh, it is her father who's calling all the way from Pennsylvania. She picks up her phone.
JANE: (lazily) Hello?
DAD: Hey Jane, remember to close all the doors and windows while we're gone. Also don't let any strangers into the house.
JANE: okay, I'm not a kid anymore dad. I'm not gonna let anyone in alright? Jeez.
DAD: you'll always be a kid in my heart sweetie. If there's any emergencies the numbers are on the fridge.
JANE: (rolling eyes) Okay dad, how many times are you going to lecture me?
DAD: Hey I'm just making sure you're safe! Can't a dad care about their daughter without sounding annoying?
JANE: Alright, you and mom have a nice trip!
DAD: We will. Love you sweetie.
JANE: (sweetly in a mocking voice) love you too dad~
DAD: That's my girl! See you in three days!
JANE: Okay. Bye dad.
(JANE hangs up and calls her boyfriend. The phone rings for a moment before a 20 year old boy with a husky voice answers.)
MAT: Hey love.
JANE: (into phone) Hey, my parents are gone the whole weekend. Are you free to stop by for awhile?
MAT: (with a surprised tone) Really? You mean like a sleepover? But I have work until 10 pm so i’ll come by later in the night. If its too late don't wait for me and sleep first.
JANE: Alright, I’ll be waiting! See you tonight.
MAT: Bye love~
(JANE hangs up the phone giggling with joy for tonight)
Shortly after the phone calls, BLUE enters the bedroom and jumps onto the bed. Immediately, JANE holds BLUE and places BLUE onto the floor attempting to play catch with her. JANE throws the ball towards BLUE and he fetches it.
JANE: (in an excited tone of voice) Good dog! Good dog!
JANE pets the dog and plays with the dog for awhile until she realizes it’s time for dinner. JANE exits the bedroom and enters the kitchen to set up her dinner that her mom already prepared. She eats as she waits for MATTHEW. TIC TOC TIC TOC. It is still too early after she's done, so she gets ready for bed, places BLUE on the bed, and closes all windows and doors except for one. It’s windy and rainy outside, JANE worries MATTHEW might not make it, but she goes to sleep with BLUE anyways. JANE goes to bed. The light dims out.

ACT II
Curtain open
It’s midnight and JANE is sound asleep in her bedroom. Downstairs a shadow approaches the window and a man about 6 ft tall enters through it. BLUE is suddenly awakened by the noise. He jumps off the bed and walks to the door growling with his head low ready to attack whoever was in the hall. When the intruder opened the door to Jane's room, BLUE pounces on him. The intruder grabs BLUE by the throat and with one clean swipe slit its throat and brought it to the bathroom. He hangs BLUE upside down and cut open its stomach and let its intestines hang out. He then proceeds to Jane's room where he lays down on the bed next to her like nothing just happened.
Two hours later, a dripping sound awoke JANE from her slumber. She saw that her boyfriend MATTHEW was in bed too so she asked him to go check it out.
JANE: "Mat, somethings dripping can you go see it?" But she got no answer. The sound was coming from downstairs. The rain was still pouring out, Jane thought "maybe theres a leak somewhere..."
She went down to check on the windows and realized the one she left open before wasn’t closed yet so she closed and locked it before going back to bed. Before she fell asleep she called for BLUE and he licked her hand to let her know he was still under the covers. But shortly only 2 hours later the dripping woke up Jane again. This time she thought it was the faucet in the kitchen so she went down to check it. In the kitchen JANE made sure the sink faucet was closed and not leaking before going back to bed again. Just like last time she called for BLUE and he licked her hand before she fell back asleep. The next time JANE heard dripping, it was 4am in the morning and she chose to ignore it this time because she wasn't going to get up again.

ACT III
Curtain open
Person sleeping next to JANE is gone.
By 6am, JANE was awakened by the doorbell.
JANE: (in an angry tone) "GOSH, who could it be this early? Can’t be mom and dad could it.."
Jane opens the door and there stands her boyfriend Matthew.
MAT: I’m so sorry I couldn't make it last night, love.
JANE: What are you saying?
MAT: Are you mad at me because I didn’t come yesterday night?
JANE: (looking confused) You're confusing me! You were here last night weren't you?
MAT: (staring at JANE) No I wasn’t work ended later than usual and by the time I got home I was already really tired and you were asleep. I tried calling but you didn't answer.
JANE: Look, is this some kind of sick joke? YOU WERE HERE YESTERDAY NIGHT SLEEPING NEXT TO ME!!
MAT: WHAT? I was at home last night? Did u dream I was here last night or something?
JANE: NO! I woke up 3 times in the middle of the night and you were here!
MAT: Look jane, I wasn't here last night. I’m not joking around with you. WHO WAS INSIDE YOUR HOUSE LAST NIGHT?
JANE: Oh my god! Who was I sleeping next to the whole night if that wasn’t you?!?!
MATTHEW and JANE stand at the door in silence as they stared at each other in horror. But the silence was broken by dripping sounds. They both strained to hear and identified the sounds to the bathroom upstairs. JANE and MATTHEW climbed the stairs cautiously trying not to make any loud sounds. They stopped at the bathroom door for a couple seconds craning their ears close to the door. The dripping was definitely coming from inside. MATTHEW takes a deep breath and turns the knob of the door and swings it open. MATTHEW and JANE freeze in their place and take in the scene in front of them. BLUE was hanging by the tail over the tub with it’s head limp and intestines hanging down to the floor. Blood was seeping out and dripping everywhere. JANE stared in disbelief and fell down to her knees. "WHO COULD HAVE DONE THIS?" *Jane weeps*
She turns her head and catches the words on the mirror written in blood. "Humans can lick too my love" and she turns around to look at MATTHEW.
